Since 2021, (in)sight aim to share tap dance and encourage discovery through multidisciplinary artistic exchanges.
Ella Steele (she/her) found her passion as a tap dancer after meeting her mentor, Ryan Foley, in 2010. She has been part of Nicholas Van Young's Institute for the Rhythmic Arts in Chicago, traveled to Sweden for the Stockholm Tap Festival, and trained with Michelle Dorrance, Dormeshia, and Derick Grant as part of the School at Jacob's Pillow Virtual Tap Dance Program. Ella has appeared in multiple productions presented by Toffan Rhythm Projects as a soloist, choreographer, and educator. She is also a core member of the Toronto-based company Rhythm & Sound, led by Johnathan Morin and Cori Giannotta, which recently performed at Dance: Made in Canada (2025). Passionate about teaching, Ella is the assistant director of the Doreen Bissett School of Dance and directs Language of Rhythm, a training and performance program for pre-professional artists.
David Lafleur (he/him) is an artist, choreographer, and dance educator working in the Outaouais region, on Anishinaabe ancestral territories. With a master's degree in physical activity sciences from the University of Ottawa, he blends percussive movement, sound art, and technology in a practice rooted in improvisation, experimentation, and collaboration. Bruits, débris et souliers pointus, created in collaboration with sound artist Pierre-Luc Clément, was presented at the Big Bang Festival at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa in February 2025. An alumnus of the Tap Dance Performance Program at the School at Jacob’s Pillow, David performs for various choreographers and artistic projects, including Softly Losing, Softly Gaining, choreographed by Dianne Montgomery for Fall For Dance North, and UNPLUGGED by Johnathan Morin and Cori Giannotta at the biennial Dance: Made In Canada festival.
