(in)sight

Since 2021, (in)sight has brought together artists rooted in the practice of improvisation, with the aim of cultivating exploration of sound and movement. This cross-Canadian multidisciplinary collective, driven by a deep connection to Tap dance and its possibilities, is directed by Ella Steele (Winnipeg, MB), and David Lafleur (Gatineau, QC).

Dedicated to their practice, (in)sight strives to disseminate a high standard of Tap dance, respect tradition, educate, and create innovative works for the community.

our work

Tap dance is a unique art form and oral tradition with infinite potential. (in)sight aims to put an emphasis on both compositional voice and movement while encouraging individuality and expression. In collaboration with dancers, musicians, and visual artists, (in)sight creates work rooted in Tap dance and transposes it into a variety of creative expressions.

outreach

Through community development projects such as their summer series, (in)sight seeks to uphold Tap dance culture by offering unique opportunities for sharing and education. These events aim to foster links between artistic communities, provide representative education of today's Tap dance scene, and aid the development of artists of all generations and origins.
